Description
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Resident in the State of Illinois
- No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants for further consideration)
- Valid state issued driver’s license
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Minimum 20 years of age at time of application and at least 21 years of age at time of conditional offer of employment
- Be under 35 years of age at time of application, unless exempt from the age limitation as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act
- Be a high school graduate or possess a GED
- Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at an accredited college, university or junior college OR have one year of active military or naval service and honorable discharge OR currently a certified police officer in the State of Illinois
- Applicants are not obligated to disclose expunged juvenile recourse of adjudication, arrest, or conviction as part of the application process
- Possess a valid POWER test card dated no earlier than December 23, 2024

- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of high school diploma
- One of the following:
- Copy of official college transcripts showing proof of 60 credits or Associate’s Degree
- Copy of DD214 with one year of active service
- Copy of documentation for proof of full time law enforcement experience in Illinois
- Copy of documentation for proof of U.S. Citizenship. May include: county/state issued birth record, passport, or naturalization papers
- Copy of POWER test card dated no earlier than December 23, 2024
- Copy of DD-214 (long form), if applicable
Virtual Testing Information:
The exam will be offered in a virtual format and you will be able to take the exam in our own home. Testing will be offered during business ours within the week of January 26th, 2026- it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during this time.
Application Process Information:
When you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation number. You will also need to print and sign the required release form(s) and gather the required documentation listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by the application deadline.
