Police Officer Job Application
Application Deadline: Monday, September 15, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
Starting Salary Effective 1/1/2025: $74,033 through the Academy and $82,259 following successful completion of the Academy and Field Training
Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants for the examination shall be citizens of the United States or permanent residents.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Eligible applicants must be at least 20 years of age and have successfully completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university. Other applicants not having such must be 21 years of age. Applicants shall be under 35 years of age unless the applicant qualifies for an exemption as specified in Illinois Compiled Statutes, Chapter 65, Section 5/10-1-7(j) of an Act entitled Civil Service in Cities.
- Valid P.O.W.E.R. (Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) card issued within the past 11 months from time of application.

- Completed City of West Chicago Police Officer Application – available after download
- Exam Selection Form – available after download
- Copy of high school diploma or equivalent
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship or permanent residency. May include: state/county issued birth certificate, passport, naturalization papers, or permanent residency card
- POWER card dated no earlier than October 15, 2024
- Optional: EEO Form
- Optional: Copy of official college transcripts
- Optional: Copy of DD-214 long form
Written Exam Information:
Candidates must attend one of the following testing sessions:
1) Sunday, October 12, 2025. In-person testing will take place at 8:00 a.m. at City of West Chicago Water Treatment Plant, 400 W. Hawthorn Lane.
2) Virtual testing week of October 6th, 2025. Testing will take during business hours. Exact date and time of virtual sessions will be determined at a later time.
