Police Officer Application
Application Deadline: Friday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m.
Starting Salary: $66,950.00 – $81,681.34
Top Salary: $103,120.81 – $109,400.87
Minimum Requirements:
- $25 non-refundable application fee.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident.
- Valid driver’s license. Must obtain an IL license upon time of hire.
- POWER test card – must be dated within one year of the written exam. Illinois Certified Police Officers are not required to have a POWER test card.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 20 years of age at the time of test (6/11/2025) and 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Must be under 35 years of age at the time of application and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statue 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
- Character – Must not have committed any felony, qualifying misdemeanor or crime involving moral turpitude and be of good moral character pursuant to 50 ILCS 705-6.

- Copy of high school diploma/GED
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of proof of authorization to work in the United Sates. May include: U.S. County/State issued birth record, U.S. Passport, Naturalization Papers, or Permanent Resident Card
- Copy of POWER test card – must be dated no earlier than June 11, 2024
Orientation and Testing:
Wednesday, June 11, 2025
Sign-in begins at 6:00 p.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m. – no late admittance. Testing will be held at: Markham Police Station, 16313 Kedzie Parkway, Markham, IL. Additional details regarding the orientation and testing will be provided at a later time.
