Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application

Starting Salary: $70,581
The La Grange Fire Department is seeking a diverse pool of applicants for the position of Firefighter Paramedic. Minimum Requirements:
- Be a United States Citizen
- No felony convictions
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Current IL EMT-B certification at time of application (Note: At time of hire the applicant must possess a certified EMT-P Paramedic License from the State of Illinois)
- Be at least 21 and under 35 years of age at the time of application, or as otherwise provided by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Act (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1)
- Submit proof of a valid CPAT and Approved Ladder Climb card(s) from a licensed agency. Cards must be dated within one year of application (8/12/2023 – 8/12/2024). Must also be valid at time of appointment.

- Consent and release form (2 pages) – available after purchase
- Copy of high school diploma
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship: can include: county/state-issued birth certificate (hospital issued birth certificates not accepted), U.S. passport, naturalization papers
- Copy of valid Illinois EMT-Basic certification
- Copy of valid CPAT and ladder climb certification. Must be dated 8/12/2023 – 8/12/2024
Testing Information:
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Doors will open for sign-in at 5:30 p.m., please arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. with a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, military ID) to sign-in. There will be no late admittance.
