Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application
Application Deadline: Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Starting Salary: $78,605.23
Minimum Requirements:
- $20.00 non-refundable application fee
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at the time of the written exam and under 35 years of age at the time of application, unless exempt by statute
- U.S Citizen
- Applicants must be certified by the State of Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal as a Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter at the time of application
- Applicants must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an EMT-Paramedic at the time of hire or enrolled in an approved paramedic program with certification completion at eleventh month of probation
- Valid CPAT/Ladder Climb issued within the 12 months prior to the application deadline
Required Documentation due 5/16/2025 at 2:00 p.m.
- Confirmed and completed online application
- Consent and release agreement (2 pages)
- Copy of high school diploma
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship. May include: county/state birth record, passport or naturalization papers
- Copy of Firefighter II/Basic Operations Certification (must be issued by the OSFM)
- Copy of valid IDPH EMT License or IDPH Paramedic License
- Copy of valid CPAT and Ladder Climb certification dated no earlier than May 16, 2024
Orientation and Testing:
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Sign in will begin at 8:30 AM, please arrive no later than 9:00 AM with a photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, military ID) to sign- in.

Grayslake, IL 60030
Other examinations (Preliminary background; Initial Oral; Performance Potential Assessment; Detailed Background; Final Oral) followed by psychological and medical tests after written job offer.
