Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application
Application Deadline: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Minimum Requirements:
- $35.00 non-refundable application fee
- At least 21 years of age and not more than 34 years of age at the time of appointment, except per the Illinois Statute 65ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
- Must be a US citizen
- No felony convictions
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Present a valid CPAT card with ladder climb (date must be within 12 months of the application deadline)
- Possess a valid Paramedic License from the State of Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) at the time of hire
- After official offer of employment, candidates must successfully complete the Basic Operations Firefighter Certification program with the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal
- Must successfully test into the Loyola EMS system (after tentative offer of employment) prior to start date
- Must successfully complete a written examination along with an oral interview

- Consent and release agreement (available after purchase)
- Town of Cicero Additional Release Forms (6 pages- available after purchase)
- Copy of high school diploma or GED
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship – U.S. County/State issued birth record, valid U.S. passport, or Naturalization papers accepted as proof
- Copy of valid CPAT/Ladder Climb card- must be issued 07/02/2024-07/02/2025
- Colored passport size front facing picture of shoulders up
Orientation and Testing:
- Mandatory orientation and written exam on Saturday, August 2, 2025
- Oral Interviews will be August 19th and August 20th
Additional details will be provided to those eligible. Those that successfully attend the orientation and successfully complete the written exam and oral interview will have the opportunity to collect preference points. Preference points will be offered in the following categories: military and residency.
