Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application
The application deadline is March 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Salary Range: $74,404.54 – $125,200.02
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Valid driver’s license. Illinois license due at time of hire
- Must possess one of the following at time of application:
- Valid Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) EMT-Basic Certification and Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certificate
- Currently enrolled in a recognized IDPH Paramedic Program and OSFM BOF Certificate
- Valid IDPH Paramedic License
- 21 to 35 years of age by date of hire unless otherwise exempt by statute
- Valid CPAT and Ladder Climb dated no earlier than March 28, 2024
- At time of hire, must be currently enrolled in recognized IDPH Paramedic Program and hold your BOF Certificate OR possess a valid IDPH Paramedic License
Required Documentation due March 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.:

- Copy of high school diploma
- Copy of valid IL driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship
- Copy of valid IDPH EMT- Basic License, IDPH Paramedic License, or proof of enrollment in an IDPH Paramedic Program
- Copy of CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate(s) dated no earlier than March 28, 2024
Testing Information:
Candidates must attend the mandatory written exam on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Lake Park High School (East Campus), 600 S. Medinah Rd. Testing will take place in the morning. Additional details will be supplied to eligible candidates.
Interview Information:
Candidates that successfully pass the written exam will be invited to the oral interview at a later date. Additional details will be supplied to eligible candidates.
