Police Officer Job Application
Application Deadline: April 10, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.

Starting Salary: $73,507. Current top salary: $115,190

Minimum Requirements:

• Be 21 years of age and under 35 as of application deadline unless exempt from age limitations as provided by statute
• Binocular vision corrective to 20/30
• No felony convictions
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Residency within 30 miles of corporate limits of the village within six (6) months of hire
• Education Requirement: At time of filing an application for original appointment to the Police Department, applicant must have attained an associate’s degree or its equivalent number of hours towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Exceptions: 1) Applicants who were engaged in active military service of the United States for at least two years and honorably discharged, and 2) Applicants who are certified full-time police officers in the State of Illinois
• Attend Orientation Session and pass all phases of testing process

Required documentation due April 10, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. (must be mailed or hand-delivered)

• Copy of associate’s degree diploma or official college transcripts
• Copy of valid driver’s license
• Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship or legal authorization to work in U.S.: can include: county/state-issued birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization papers
• Copy of valid POWER test card (optional)
• Copy of Full-Time Police Officer Certification from the State of IL (if applicable)
• Copy of Military Discharge Form DD-214 (if applicable)

Orientation and Written Exam:
You are required to attend and/or view the mandatory orientation. The orientation will be held virtually – additional details will be supplied at a later time. Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home! There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually.  All sessions will be offered during business hours within the week of May 15^th – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times.
