Westchester, IL Firefighter Application

Description

Minimum Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status
• Valid driver’s license (valid IL driver’s license due at time of hire)
• High school diploma/GED 
• Must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application deadline, unless exempt by applicable state law
• Must provide proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with Ladder Climb Certification dated 11/18/2022 – 11/18/2023 OR  must provide proof that you are signed up/scheduled to participate in the CPAT and Ladder Climb certification test conducted by a licensed agency before the interview process.  If both certifications are not successfully completed at that time, you will be disqualified from the hiring process
• Valid Illinois Department of Public Health Paramedic License at time of hire.  Applicants not currently in possession of an EMT-P license shall be allowed to complete the testing process by submitting proof of current enrollment in a State of Illinois IDPH-approved paramedic program. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in the program by submitting a letter of good standing from the organization sponsoring their enrollment or by the course administrator, on their letterhead.
• Complete and submit the Reimbursement Agreement for Training Costs and Expenses as well as the additional release forms/waives and online application by 10/20/2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Required Documentation due 10/20/2023 at 2:00 p.m. (must be delivered via hand or mail):

• Completed and confirmed online application (available after download)
• All required release forms and waivers (available after download) – be careful to fully read the instructions on how to properly complete these forms
• Copy of high school diploma/GED
• Copy of valid driver’s license
• Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship or permanent resident status
  • county/state-issued birth record, passport, naturalization papers, or permanent resident card accepted 
• Copy of valid CPAT and Ladder Climb certification dated 11/18/2022 – 11/18/2023 OR Proof of being scheduled to complete the physical exam before the interview process
  • Certifications valid if issued between 11/18/2022 – 11/18/2023
  • Proof of being scheduled must be in the form or a confirmation letter from a licensed agency
• COPY of Valid IDPH Paramedic License OR Letter of Good Standing From Organization Sponsoring Applicants EMT-P Enrollment

Testing Information:
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Exact details will be provided to those eligible to test.
