• $20 non-refundable application fee
• U.S. citizenship 
• Must be at least 20 years old and less than 35 years of age at time of written exam. Exemptions to age only offered for full-time law enforcement experience
• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire 
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license 
• Valid POWER test card dated within one year from the date of the written examination. Must be dated May 6, 2022 – May 6, 2023
• Be of good moral character 

Required Documentation due April 5, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. ( documentation must be hand delivered or mailed):

• Confirmed Online Application – available after purchase
• Consent & Release Form (2 pages) – available after purchase
• Waukegan PD Required Forms (15 pages) – available after purchase
• Copy of High School Diploma or GED
• Copy of Valid Driver’s License 
• Copy of Birth Record as Proof of Citizenship. May include: state/county birth certificate, U.S. passport, or naturalization papers
• Copy of Valid POWER Test Card – must be dated 05/06/2022 – 05/06/2023 – due by date of written exam 
• Copy of Military DD-214 – if applicable 

*If you choose to hand-deliver documentation, please place all documents in a sealed envelope and use our drop-box located immediately outside the rear doors to building 1520. The drop-box will show the IOS logo. 

Testing Information:
Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on Saturday, May 6, 2023.  The test will be held in Waukegan, IL. Specific testing details will be provided to eligible candidates prior to the exam date.

In the event that a candidate is unable to obtain a valid POWER test card dated 05/06/2022 – 05/06/2023, they will have the option to take the POWER test, administered in Waukegan immediately following the written examination.  All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.

You will also need to print the required release forms and gather the required documentation listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 4:00 p.m. on 04/05/2023.  Failure to complete any portion of the application process will eliminate you from further consideration. No refunds are issued for incomplete or late applications.
