Firefighter/Paramedic Job Application
The application deadline is Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
Minimum Requirements:
- $35 application fee
- U.S. Citizenship
- No felony convictions
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- High school diploma/GED
- 21 years of age to under 35 years of age by date of hire, unless otherwise exempt by statute
- Must be an Illinois Certified Basic Operations Firefighter with the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OFSM)
- IDPH Paramedic license due at time of hire
- CPAT and Ladder Climb certification due at time of hire.
Required Documentation due October 9, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. (not accepted via email or fax).

- Copy of high school diploma or GED
- Copy of valid IL driver’s license
- Copy of birth record – may include U.S. County/State issued birth record, U.S. Passport or Naturalization Papers
- Copy of IL OSFM Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter certification
- Optional Copy of CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate(s) – due at time of hire
- Optional Copy of valid IL IDPH Paramedic License – due at time of hire
Virtual Testing:
Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home! The session will be offered during business hours within the week of November 4th. There will be no evening or weekend session available – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times. In late October you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam.
Application Process Information:
Once you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation number. You will also need to print and sign the required release form(s) and gather the required documentation listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 4:00 p.m. on 10/09/2024. All application fees are non-refundable. Please be sure to review the minimum requirements carefully before applying and allow yourself enough time to complete the online application and turn in your documents by the deadline.
