Minimum Requirements:
- $25.00 non-refundable application fee
- U.S. Citizenship
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be 21 years of age by time of hire, and must not exceed 35 years of age by application deadline. Applicants who are 19 or 20 years of age may test but must turn 21 within the 2 years the eligibility list is active. You must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Proof of completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb upon conditional offer of employment. Must submit proof within five (5) business days of conditional offer of employment
- Certified Illinois Office of State Fire Marshal Firefighter II/Basic Operations upon conditional offer of employment. Must submit proof within five (5) business days of conditional offer of employment
- Licensed Illinois Department of Public Health Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) upon conditional offer of employment. Must submit proof within five (5) business days of conditional offer of employment
Required Documentation Due 1/30/2026 at 2:00 p.m. – must be mailed or hand delivered:

- Copy of high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Copy of valid driver’s license
- Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship. May include: county/state issued birth certificate, U.S. passport, or naturalization papers
Written Examination:
Attend Orientation and Written Exam in the morning of Saturday, February 21, 2026 at City of Princeton, City Hall. Additional details will be supplied to eligible candidates.
