Police Officer Job Application

Application Deadline: July 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

The police department expects to hire approximately 20-25 police officers in the next two years. The starting annual salary is $74,923.47

Minimum Requirements:

  • United States Citizen 
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must have completed at least sixty (60) credit hours at an accredited college or university at time of application and possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university at time of appointment 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, which will be used for identification at all phases of testing 
  • Be 21 years of age, but not older than 35 years of age by the date of testing, unless applicant falls under one of the exemptions to the maximum hiring age 
  • Must provide a valid POWER test card dated within six months of the application date. Cards
    considered valid if dated January 8, 2022 – July 8, 2022

  • Attend all phases of testing
  • Possess good moral character suitable to the role of a law enforcement officer
  • Pass a thorough character and background investigation, which shall include a polygraph test
  • Pass a medical examination and psychological assessment
  • Meet the vision requirement of uncorrected 20/100 correctable to 20/20 and not be color blind
  • Meet all requirements of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Rules, City of Naperville Municipal Code, and laws of the State of Illinois 


Required Documentation due 7/8/2022 at 2:00 PM (must be mailed or hand delivered):

  • Confirmed online application (available after purchase)
  • Consent and release agreement (available after purchase)
  • Copy of high school diploma/GED
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record – may include: U.S. county/state birth record, U.S. Passport or Naturalization Papers
  • Copy of official college transcripts that must indicate attainment of at least 60 credit hours from an accredited institution by application deadline
  • Copy of Valid POWER Test Card dated 1/8/2022 – 7/8/2022
  • Completed EEO Form (optional) 


Mandatory Testing:

Your exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually. All sessions will be offered during business hours from August 10th – August 17th – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times.

In early August you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam. Please read through the instructions carefully before your exam date. Failure to follow the steps outlined may cause the electronic exam to not work properly, potentially resulting in your removal from the testing session.


Application Process Information:

When you complete your online application, you will receive a confirmation number. You will also need to print the required release forms and gather the required documentation listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 2:00 p.m. on 7/8/2022. Application fees are non-refundable.
