Minimum Requirements:

• $35.00 non-refundable application fee
• U.S. citizenship 
• No felony convictions
• Valid IL driver’s license 
• High school diploma or equivalent 
• 21 to 35 years of age by date of the written examination unless otherwise exempt by statute
• Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) paramedic license due by time of conditional offer
• CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate(s) dated within one year of the application deadline. Must be dated 10/13/2022 – 10/13/2023. Must also be valid at date of conditional letter of appointment
• If candidate does not have Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certificate at time of hire, the Fire District will facilitate BOF training and certification.  Applicants in possession are required to submit a copy with their application

Required Documentation due October 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. (not accepted via email or fax):

• Online application (available after purchase)  
• Consent and release agreement (available after purchase) – signed and dated by applicant
• Copy of high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Copy of valid IL driver’s license
• Copy of birth record – may include U.S. County/State issued birth record, U.S. Passport or Naturalization Papers 
• Copy of CPAT and Ladder Climb certificate(s) dated 10/13/2022 – 10/13/2023
• If Applicable: Copy of valid IDPH EMT-Paramedic license (due at time of conditional offer)
• If Applicable: Copy of valid State of Illinois OSFM Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate

Mandatory Orientation:
A mandatory online orientation will be held for eligible applicants and specific details will be released at a later date.

Mandatory Written Examination:
The exam will be offered electronically, and you will take the exam in your own home. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually. All sessions will be offered during business hours the week of November 13, 2023 – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times. In early November you will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam.

Candidates who require ADA accommodations must contact IOS Recruitment at least two weeks prior to the written exam date. All portions of the testing process are mandatory. Failure to attend and successfully complete any portion of the process will result in elimination from employment consideration.
