Minimum Requirements:

  • $35 non- refundable application fee
  • P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report(P.O.W.E.R.) Card, from a certified testing agency- valid if issued between 8/23/2018 and 8/23/2019
  • Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing including: oral interview, background investigation (applicants will be required to fully disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files); psychological evaluation, polygraph, and medical physical (including a drug and alcohol screening)
  • Residence: At this time, there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Indian Head Park
  • Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement AND have received a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, at time of application
  • Age Requirement: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday and be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications (8/23/2019) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6
  • Character: No felony convictions and be of good moral character (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration) must successfully complete a background investigation 
  • Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Required Documentation due by 2:00 p.m. (CST) on 8/23/2019 (no faxes/emails accepted):

  • Online Application
  • Consent and Release Agreement (2 pages)
  • Copy of high school diploma or GED
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship – can include: U.S. County/State issued birth certificate, U.S. Passport, or Naturalization papers
  • Original, Official College transcripts (no photocopies, scans, or unofficial accepted!) indicating a minimum of 60 semester hours of college credit
  • Copy of POWER test card issued between 8/23/2018 and 8/23/2019

Testing and Orientation Information:

Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Sign in will begin at 8:30 AM CST, and orientation will begin at 9:00 AM CST with photo identification (valid driver’s license, State ID or Military ID) to sign-in.

Application Process Information:

You will also need to print and sign the required release form and gather required documentation (listed above) for submission to IOS Recruitment by 2:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday, August 23, 2019.  Failure to complete any portion of the application process will eliminate you for further consideration.  No refunds are issued for incomplete or late applications.
