Firefighter Job Application

Application deadline: Friday, March 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. (CST)

Starting annual base salary: $77,919 

Once accepted into the Lutheran General system as a paramedic, the annual base salary: $81,955

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be between 21 and under the age of 35 years on 3/19/2021 (exceptions for active military personnel and previous firefighter experience per 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6)
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school education 
  • Good moral character and possess temperate habits
  • Be of sound mind and health and physically able to perform the essential functions of Firefighter
  • Candidates must either possess a valid Illinois EMT-Paramedic license from Lutheran General System, or obtain such license within the first eighteen months of employment as condition of continued employment 
  • Submit proof of having passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb test through a certified agency. CPAT card must be used within the twelve (12) months prior to the written examination (valid if issued between 4/17/20 to 4/17/21)
  • Must be a resident of and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Copy of high school diploma
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship or legal authorization to work in U.S.: can include: county/state-issued birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization papers, permanent resident card (green card)
  • Copy of valid CPAT and ladder climb. Must be dated 4/17/20 – 4/17/21
  • Copy of IL EMT-Paramedic license (if applicable) 

 

Written Exam:

Candidates must attend the mandatory written examination on Saturday, April 17th or Sunday, April 18th. Testing sessions will be randomly assigned. It is your responsilbity to ensure you have the flexibility to test at any time on both dates. Exact times will be dependent on the number of candidates testing and the current state of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Testing will be held in Glenview, IL.
