Police Officer Job Application
Starting pay for a Police Officer, effective January 1, 2022 is $71,754
Application Deadline: Monday, May 1, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 21 years old by date of written exam; maximum age of under 35 years unless the age limit is reached after being placed on the eligibility list (unless otherwise exempt by Statute)
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Associate’s Degree. In lieu of an Associate’s Degree, you must have one of the following: 1) 60 semester hours towards a Bachelor’s Degree from an institution of higher learning accredited by the U.S. Department of Education; 2) Served for 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and not have been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable; 3) Served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable
  • Must submit proof of passing the POWER Test within one year prior to the application deadline
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
  • Pass a comprehensive pre-employment screening process to include: background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination with drug testing

Required documentation due May 1, 2023 by 4:00 p.m. There will not be a grace period offered. Failure to submit the below documents correctly by the deadline will render you ineligible to test. 

  • Confirmed online application – available after purchase
  • Release Forms and Application Addendum (18 pages) – available after purchase
  • EEO Form (optional) – available after purchase
  • Copy of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Copy of valid driver’s license
  • Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship: can include: county/state-issued birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization papers
  • Copy of official college transcripts – unofficial transcripts not accepted
  • Copy of valid POWER test card (by date of written exam).  Must be dated 5/1/2022 – 5/1/2023
  • Copy of military DD-214, if applicable

Optional Orientation:
An optional orientation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The orientation will be presented on a virtual meeting platform. Meeting details will be provided to those who have purchased an application by the deadline. The orientation will be recorded and made available to anyone interested in learning more about the department and the position of police officer. 

Mandatory Written Examination:
Your exam will be offered electronically and you will take the exam in your own home. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually. All sessions will be offered during business hours the week of May 30th – it is your responsibility to ensure you have the flexibility to test during these times.

When you have completed the online application you will receive a confirmation number. You will also need to print and sign the required release form(s) and gather required documents listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 4:00 p.m. (CST) on May 1, 2023.
